What the agency published
The Alachua County Sports & Events Center (ACSEC) is a 130,000+ sq. ft. facility owned and managed by Alachua County's Tourism and Economic Development Department. A community asset built to drive economic growth through tourism, the ACSEC features the only state-of-the-art World Athletics Compliant track in the state of Florida, with a 200m portable banked 6-lane track and permanent 60m 8-lane sprint lanes all with Mondo surfaces. The facilities feature dual throwing areas, two long jump/triple jump runways, two high jump areas, and one pole vault runway. From January through March, the Jimmy Carnes track brings thousands of athletes to the community for indoor track & field season. Indoor track & field season at the ACSEC consists of a blend of created, rental, and bid events with the goal of activating the facility every week of season. Alachua County currently operates six (6) of its own created track & field meets throughout the season. Understanding the importance of technical expertise in the sport of track & field, Alachua County is issuing this RFP to select a private partner to assist in driving the Athletics efforts of the ACSEC. The ideal candidate is an expert in meet management, technical aspects of track & field, has strong relationships with youth, scholastic, collegiate, and masters track & field, and has an entrepreneurial spirit with understanding of tourism. The scope of work is extensive, and Alachua County will reserve the right to award this project in whole or in part, to build a team that can deliver excellence and results. The ACSEC is slated to host the WMA Indoor Championships in 2027, again after its US debut in 2025. In addition, since its opening in 2023, the Jimmy Carnes Track at the ACSEC has hosted 4 national championships.
